Obey and Be Blessed

Read Jeremiah 21:1–14; 34:1–22
Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; they will escape with their lives (Jeremiah21:9).
Jeremiah told the people of Judah to surrender to the Babylonians, then their lives would be saved. The people didn’t want to give up even though it was God’s command. God would bring devastation to their city because they had turned their backs on Him and served other gods.
There are times when God may impress upon you to act in a way that does not make sense to you, and you initially don’t want to do it. Perhaps God wants you to give money to a stranger that you see in the grocery store. Or He may want you to walk down a street which is out of the way only to find someone in need. When you obey God’s prompting, you will be glad you did.
Do you step out when God asks you to move in a certain direction? If you would listen and obey and try not to rationalize your situation, God would bless your choices.
Challenge for Today: Ask the Lord for courage to respond to a leading from Him.
